Job Summary:
The Correctional Facility Athletic Trainer is responsible for providing comprehensive athletic training services to incarcerated individuals within the correctional facility. The Athletic Trainer will assess, prevent, diagnose, treat, and rehabilitate inmates' athletic injuries and medical conditions. This position requires a strong commitment to promoting a safe and healthy environment while adhering to the facility's rules and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Perform initial assessments and evaluations to determine the extent and nature of athletic injuries or conditions.
2. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and rehabilitation programs to facilitate inmates' recovery and maximize their physical performance.
3. Administer immediate first aid, emergency care, and injury prevention measures as required during sports activities and training sessions.
4. Collaborate with medical staff and correctional officers to ensure proper communication and coordination of care for inmates.
5. Conduct regular screenings and assessments to identify potential health risks or conditions that may impact inmates' participation in sports activities.
6. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all athletic injuries, treatments, and progress reports.
7. Provide education and guidance to inmates on injury prevention, proper nutrition, exercise techniques, and overall wellness.
8. Stay updated with the latest advancements in athletic training techniques, equipment, and research to enhance the quality of care provided.
9. Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines established by the correctional facility to ensure the well-being of both inmates and staff.
10. Collaborate with other medical professionals and support staff to deliver a multidisciplinary approach to inmate healthcare.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelor's degree in Athletic Training or a related field.
2. Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) certification from the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA).
3. Current state licensure or eligibility for licensure as an Athletic Trainer in the relevant jurisdiction.
4. Minimum of [X] years of experience working as an Athletic Trainer, preferably in a correctional or similar setting.
